So yahoo came out with a new version of their
maps. It's nice and all, but that's because it looks like what
google already has. The only feature that google doesn't have is the bird's eye view window. Though it would be nice for google, it's more necessary for yahoo because their load time is really slow; and I'm on Comcast cable. It reminds you where you were after you came back from your coffee break. Yahoo also has a live traffic feature. It's a really neat idea, but am not sure how "live" it is. While google maps does not have this feature built in, I have seen
other sites that show live traffic using google maps.
The other aspect I love about google is that they condense all searches into one field. Everyone else makes separate fields for each type of information; all just to clutter up the screen. I really like the tools google comes out with. The only popular one that I find a bit lacking (and apparently a lot of other people do too) is
google video. The interface really lacks. I think this is a case where they oversimplified the look.
Oh and check out google
calendar. I'm looking into what all it can do. I've noticed so far that it can do basic invitations and discussion similar to
evite.
