On a previous Saturday (10/14), Gen got tickets from her friend to the Chicago Wolves opening game at the Allstate Arena (formerly Rosemont Horizon).

It was a fun filled day starting with her friend's hockey game (same place). That was cool because we got to sit really close. Dawn was able to join us once she squeezed out of the highway traffic. Unfortunately, she had to step out before the end of the game.

Then they had a tailgating party outside with a game tent, inflatable castle for the kids, and a cover band. Gen & I had picked up Subway subs because we didn't know what kind o f set-up they had. We ate our subs in the chilly wind, but had some tasty (alcohol) beverages to keep us warm. Gen's friend Susan joined us as we finished our subs. The band played a variety of songs, challenging themselves with songs like American Pie.

The game finally started. Any longer outside and we would have been throwing roller shoe wheels at the band. When we got to our seats, Dawn met up with us. The intro for the Wolves game beats Milwaukee's hands down. Pyrotechnics, fireworks, ice floor laser display, and loud music were enough to get us all pumped up and banging our Thunderstix together. Unfortunatley, the Wolves lost to the Admirals 1-5. Hopefully they'll do better next time. At least I had a great time with some great company!
The band at the tailgate party is "Billy Ray Valentine" they do shows all over Chicago, and have been together about 10 yrs.
ReplyDeleteI have know the singer for almost 20yrs. Small world seeing him on my cousin's blog.
