New Siding!

Finally this year came and we got the siding replaced as planned. The old siding was 8 or 10" cedar board that had faded to a rust instead of a rich red. We decided to stay with the red since it went well with the brick. The color also matches pretty well with the storm doors. Now we just need new shutters on the first floor, which isn't a problem except for matching the color. My parents had decided years back on the dutch lap profile for the siding. I really like it because it adds some style, but it's still quite a change from the large boards. Here you can see the old siding and the old insulation. I'm looking forward to the improved insulation. We also had all the soffits of the house capped. The section above the kitchen didn't have any insulation or board. There were just the studs below the siding. The workers had to install some plywood before they could put up the new siding. I'm quite pleased with the work so far. Posted by Picasa

The sheeting on the kitchen wall should be helpful this winter.
