The new shed is finally finished (painted). The old shed was up for at least 20 years. It was a metal shed measuring 10' x 14' x 6'. The new wood one measures 10' x 10' x 8'. We took the old one down because it was already taking itself down. The bottom had rusted almost all around and the fence was actually holding it up. By the way, check out the new fence; it actually stands by itself!
The biggest trick of building the new shed (a kit from Home Depot) was getting a level floor. We leveled the floor frame on 4x4 cement sunken corners. Becuase the kit frame was not on solid ground, we had to add braces to the frame. You can't have a party on it, but it'll do. Building went faster when we switched from nails to screws. Half the roof shingles are left over from the house. The paint is color matched to the new siding. I thought about painting the edge boards a different color for a 2 tone effect, but my mom doesn't want to put out that much effort.
The best part about this shed is that we can hang things on the walls. So a lot of items got moved from the garage. It's also very nice to be able to stand inside without ducking; it's not really cluttered either. The only steps left to do are to install a vent and redo the landscaping around the base with bricks and pebbles/rocks.
For the slideshow, it'll automatically advance to the next slide. You can manually scroll through if you move your mouse to the top of the slideshow. If you move your mouse to the bottom of the slideshow, you'll see thumbnails of the photoset. I want to find a slideshow for next time where that I can add captions to each photo.
That was sooo cool how you put the pics together like that.
ReplyDeleteI'm w/Gen. I loved the pictoral content, too. You should submit them to a DIY show or something, b/c your results were amazing. (Or maybe at least the local paper, they love that kind of stufff.) WAY TO GO, it looks truly amazing!!!!!!
