The Renaissance Faire Part 1

It's been a few years since I've been to the Bristol Renaissance Faire and I've missed it a bit. Thought I haven't forgotten anything about it since I've gone almost every year since I was really, really little. This year, I went with CVS (ren faire fan), Susie & Kerri. We got there a little after opening and the good Lords & Ladies of Bristol were already interacting with us. "Tell us a joke," they shouted to CVS the jester (see hat in picture) from the balcony. Unfortunately, it was too early for him to think of a joke suitable for public. New for this year is the Dreadnought. It's a replica of a ship used at the original Bristol, England. We passed on boarding this time; maybe next time. Last time, I had fenced CVS, but it was to pop the balloon on the top of his helmet (found at the back of the park). This time I had the opportunity to fence him for real. The worker gave me a quick run down on the basics. CVS knew all of this; he was in the fencing club at MSOE. I tried my best and apparantly Chris wasn't ready for my sloppiness. He would lunge and I mostly lunged back out of reaction. I'll try to parry more next time. One show we caught was Moonie. He does some juggling acts, but communicates with the audience by whistling and gesturing. His final act is a triple fire baton juggle on a tight rope. He has an audience "volunteer" help him (seen sitting on stage) set up and hold the water bucket just in case. I've always enjoyed his act. Posted by Picasa

  2. Not sure what happened there, but it was like that right after I posted it. I should look at my own posts more carefully.
