Sunday the National Multiple Sclerosis Society held their annual walk. Kerri's friend from HS, Colleen, her mom has MS. They invited me to the walk last year and I joined them again this year. We went to the Northshore site located in Highland Park.

The walk started out at Highland Park HS. They had an arch of balloons set up at the beginning. Inside, they had the registration, breakfast, free stuff, and some guy dressed up as Ronald McDonald. They ran down to just XL shirts, but they offerred to mail other sizes.

A little after 9 A.M. the walk started. We waited for a bunch of people to start and then we followed after them. The course started out passing the HS and then off through the neighborhood.

This year everyone went on the path of least resistance: the street. It sucked to be a motorist that day. They didn't have the roads blocked off so I think everyone was supposed to stay out of the street. We only held up half a dozen cars.

Plenty of people brought their dogs. There just happened to be one in this pic I took. There were also neighbors walking their own dogs.

The first (of 2) rest stop was at Central Park. We decided to take a break to pace ourselves. It also gave us a photo op.

There was a van with tons of goodies: water, juice, power drinks, snacks. There was a table with Corner Bakery cookies. No one could keep their hands off of those.

At the end of the road, there was a good view of Lake Michigan. It was a steep cliff past the guard rail, so we couldn't go to the water to see how cool it was (though I'm pretty sure it was ice cold as usual).

The park had some nice blooming flowers. Here are some flowers on one of the trees in the park.

This neighborhood had a lot of nice houses. It makes sense being next to the lake. It seemed that every house was different; instead of the similar styling of newly built cul-de-sac's. It'd be nice to have a house like one of these, but I think I'd be lucky to afford a house in my town.

After some time, we come to the 2 mile mark. Two-thirds of the way done for the 3 mile journey.

The 6mile route is looking too long for us. Since we passed the 3mile split, we cut back through town. Since it's a Sunday, the shops are closed. Too bad because that would have given us lots of rest stops. The downtown are is really nice and clean. They even have bunches of flowers near the trees.

Finally, we come back to the beginning at the high school. We pass the front entrance again on our way back to the balloon arch in back. A few people are there to congratulate us. After the walk, we grab some food, refreshments, and a seat.
